Here are a few races and events going on in the Triangle area in the month of July. Our goal with this series is to help our friends, family, customers, and partners discover fun activities to not only get out and move more, but to support great causes along the way! These “Healthy Happenings” for July are our way of bringing information about these opportunities into one place for you to discover the event for you! This month features some great events with exciting activities for the whole family. There is even a pet-friendly dash! Check out the Heathy Happenings for July 2019 below:

Thursday, July 4 – Keep RLGH Independent 4 Miler

Keep RLGH Independent 4 Miler - July 2019

The 3rd Annual Keep RLGH Independent 4 Miler is presented by Runologie and Trophy Brewing. This race will benefit Healing Transitions and the Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy. With gorgeous views of downtown Raleigh and the fastest course in Dorthea Dix Park, this race is here to get your July 4th kicked off in style. Local vendor fair, awards, and post race hangs at Trophy Brewing right after the race.

Sunday, July 7th – Rex Wellness Sprint Triathlon, Garner

This race takes place at the Rex Wellness enter in Garner, NC. It is a US Triathlon sanctioned event. The 250 yard pool swim will take place in the Rex Wellness Center of Garner’s lap pool. The bike course is the fastest course of all the REX races. It features a 5 mile out and back course on Timber drive. This course is great for the beginner triathlete. To finish the race, athletes will enjoy a 2 mile run down and back Timber drive. Post race snacks and water will be available at the finish line.

July 14th-July 31st: Ice Cream Day Virtual Run

Ice Cream Day - July 2019

National Ice Cream Day  is July 15, 2019! Register for this virtual race may choose to run (or walk) for Ice Cream and complete the race anytime until the end of July! Join the third annual Ice Cream Day 1 Mile, 5K, 10K, 13.1, 26.2!

Along with celebrating Ice Cream,  they will also be donating at least 15% of every registration to Operation Smile, an incredible organization which “believes every child suffering from cleft lip or cleft palate deserves exceptional surgical care.” July is National Cleft Awareness month so there’s no better time to donate to this fantastic organization.

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE? A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Run on your own, or with friends! And your medal will be shipped directly to you. Complete a virtual 5K, 10K, half marathon and more! This is a fun and unique way for even the busiest person to participate in Healthy Happenings.

Saturday, June 13th – Kapow! Smash! SUPER Dash! 5K

Kapw! Smash! SUPER Dash! 5K - July 2019

Interested in a family (and pet) friendly event this Summer? Join many others at Knightdale Station Park for a fun run! Come dressed as your favorite SUPERHERO! All ages welcome. There’s a Kid’s Dash to test whether they have what it takes to run faster than a super human. This exciting community event will benefit a local family in need.

Saturday, July 20 – The Gravity Mile

The Gravity Mile

If you missed the Raleigh Rundown last month, never fear. This month features another downhill mile, this time in Cary. The Gravity Mile promises to be yet another fun way to get your fastest mile time yet!
